Properties of Blasting Particles

  • The following properties affect the energy and productivity of a blasting particle
    • Size
    • Hardness
    • Density
  • Friability (shattering of a particle)
  • Any energy exerted on the surface over the specification results in waste and unnecessary costs
  • Ideal blast energy = 80 psi

“No Crystalline Silica” Explained

BriteBlast™ is a ground amorphous product. The melting process during glass production eliminates the grain structure. Therefore, there is no crystalline silica, the component of other blast media that is hazardous to your health.

Work Friendly

  • NO Surface Impingement
  • NO Particle Imbedding
  • NO Surface Dust Contamination
  • Low levels of Chlorides (Salts)
    • NEVER more than 16 parts per million
  • NO Surface Discoloration
  • Bright, Natural Surface Finish
  • Dust is Inert and Transparent

Product Overview

  • Created from 3-mix, minus 12 mesh, refuge, post-consumer product
  • Contains ceramics, which give it hardness and lower dust than other glass abrasives
  • Screened to 4 primary sizes
    • #1 - Coarse, 12x20 mesh
    • #2 - Medium, 20x45 mesh
    • #3 - Fine, 45x70 mesh
    • #4 - Extra-fine, 70x110 mesh

Product Details - Applications

  • #1 (12/20 Mesh)
    • Very coarse granular mix
    • Used for heavy scale and/or contaminate removal
    • Produces 3+ mil profile on steel applications
  • #2 (20/45 Mesh)
    • Medium graded granular mix
    • Used for medium scale and/or contaminate removal
    • Produces 2-3 mil profile on steel applications
  • #3 (45/70 Mesh)
    • Fine graded granular mix
    • Used for fine profiling and on soft metal (non-ferrous) surfaces
    • Produces up to 2.5 mil profile
  • #4 (70/Finer Mesh)
    • Ultra-fine granular mix
    • Used for cleaning delicate surfaces
